Arriving in Lausanne

There are two main international airport in Switzerland, Geneva Airoport (GVA) and Zurich Ariport (ZHR). With flight connections from all over the world, visitors will have an easy time of reaching Switzerland.
Train system in Swizterland is fast and convenient. There are regular connection to Lausanne Central Station from GVA (approx. every 15 min, 50 min traveling time) and from ZHR (every 30-60 min, 2h30 traveling time).

The easiest way to travel between the EPFL and Lausanne Center is to use the Metro M1.

Convenient, quick and reliable, public transportation is probably the best way to get around in Lausanne and in Switzerland. The metro M1 can bring you to the SwissTech Convention Center from the Renens train station or the city center of Lausanne. It comes every 5 minutes and it will only take you 10 minutes to get here. The station to get to STCC is “EPFL”

Use public transportation for free! By staying in a hotel in Lausanne and paying the city tax, you gain free and unrestricted access to all of the city’s public transportation (bus, train, metro). The Lausanne Transport Card, the key to mobility is distributed in every accommodation in Lausanne.

Geneva Airport (GVA)

The airport offers connections to the Swiss and European rail network. The SBB/CFF airport railway station has direct access to the airport Check-in and Arrival levels. All trains stop at Geneva-Cornavin station (city centre).

Tickets can be purchased at the distributers in the train station (Swiss francs, euros or credit cards), at the station ticket wickets, at Ticket Shop CFF/SBB or – on landing in Geneva – in the baggage claim area (Arrivals level).

Zurich Airport (ZHR)

With around 350 rail connections departures a day, Zurich Airport is considered to be one of the best-connected locations in Switzerland. Thanks to this excellent public transport links, Zurich Airport can be reached quickly and easily from everywhere.

Arriving passengers can purchase tickets from the machines in customs halls 1 and 2. There are also more ticket machines directly next to the SBB travel centre.

Tickets for trains can be purchased at the SBB ticket machines (also located in Arrival 1 and 2), the SBB ticket counters, the Service Center, the switzerlandinfo+ counters or conveniently on the Internet or via smartphone.
