Abstract
This article presents an application of a metamodel-assisted optimization system to the multidisciplinary design optimization of a radial compressor. The shape of the blades is optimized by simultaneously considering the aero performance at different operating points and the mechanical stresses. The objective consists the efficiency at two operating points, while constraints are imposed on the maximum stress level in the material, the choking mass flow, the pressure ratio and the momentum of inertia of the impeller. An improvement of 2.31% int he efficiency has been reached while the baseline design was not complying with any constraint.
