Abstract

Results of aerodynamic research on original variant of tip section are compared with aerodynamic data obtained from research on eroded variant. The erosion of the inlet part of the profiles generates serious changes both in profile shape and also in the pitch/chord ratio. The problem was studied on two models of prismatic blade cascades. The shaping of the eroded leading part of the profile was designed on the basis of both wearing tests and various procedures of erosion wearing calculations. Both experiments and CFD were employed to get deeper insight into the problem. Experiments were performed in a suction type high-speed wind tunnel for planar blade cascades applying optical and pneumatic methods of measurements. Numerical simulations were employed to assess erosion effects in i) an infinite cascade and ii) finite cascade mounted in the wind tunnel test section. Simulations were done using in-house codes.
